I’ve been dying to get a picture of this all week to show the people of Oppo. Somehow, the driver’s side looks even worse. This thing should’ve been junked many moons ago.
I see rusty piles all the time. I’m thinking of making this a regular feature. Us rust belt folks can commiserate about the evils of road salt, and you west coasters can begin understanding why your housing prices are so damn high. What say Oppo?

So if you get in an accident with something like that, does it go full Bluesmobile?

What boggles my mind is how things like that can still legally be driven in some US States....shouldn’t all your States (I know some do) have mandatory safety inspections every so often? Every Canadian province/territory, AFAIK has one every two years to keep cars on the right side of suicidemobiles in case of an accident...

8.7/10 would drive as a beater

Does it run? In Texas, this is driven 9/10 by a little old Mexican guy at 10 under the limit trying to not be noticed.

No idea if it runs. It showed up in this exact spot on Tuesday. It hasn’t moved since. I really hope it’s just waiting for a wrecker to come haul it off.

I like the inspection idea in theory, but knowing how the fine state of Illinois works (state motto: give us your money and shut up), I think it would just be an opportunity for more graft and corruption.

Pretty much, yeah. I always say that they’ll fold up like a beer can.

Where is the wagon?

What province are you in? Ontario doesn’t have one like that except for commercial vehicles. We only have to do it when the vehicle changes hands. That said if the cops saw you in this you wouldn’t be in it very long.
I’m torn on the idea, frankly. On the one hand it would probably catch a lot of cars that are hazards. On the other with the sort of BS so many mechanics already pull I don’t want to be under any obligation to let them mess around with my vehicle.

I knew some jackass would make a comment about that. Figures it’d be a Canadian! :)

Wow, really? In the Atlantic Provinces AFAIK (I’m in Nova Scotia), they all have mandatory inspections every year or two. It WAS every year here in Nova Scotia up until like 6 years ago, but it is every two years now. Not sure about PEI and NB, but I know they have inspections as well.
VERY
surprised Ontario doesn’t!!!

That makes me wonder how many...ahem...fine, perfectly safe machines are plying the streets waiting to accidentally kill somebody because they are unfit to be on the road... 0_o

I am too tbh, considering how over regulated everything else is in Ontario (except the things that should be).
